Role Summary

The Desk-Side Support IT Engineer is responsible for providing hands-on technical support to end users, ensuring the smooth operation of desktop systems, laptops, mobile devices, and associated peripherals. This role focuses on resolving hardware and software issues, supporting users both on-site and remotely, and delivering a high level of customer service.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

 

- Provide first- and second-level technical support for hardware, software, and network issues

 

- Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices

 

- Troubleshoot operating systems (Windows, macOS) and business applications

 

- Respond to user requests via ticketing systems, email, phone, or in-person support

 

- Diagnose and resolve issues related to connectivity, VPN, and network access

 

- Perform system upgrades, patches, and routine maintenance

 

- Support onboarding/offboarding activities (user setup, account provisioning, equipment allocation)

 

- Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, service requests, and solutions

 

- Manage asset inventory, including tracking and lifecycle of IT equipment

 

- Collaborate with other IT teams (network, security, infrastructure) to resolve complex issues

 

- Ensure compliance with IT policies, procedures, and security standards

 

Required Skills/Abilities

 
  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems

  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365, Active Directory, and basic networking concepts
  • Familiarity with ITSM/ticketing tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira, Zendesk)

  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and peripheral devices

  • Strong customer service and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

 

Education and Experience

 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of experience in IT support or desk-side support roles
